Custom Built Conveyor Belt

We were requested to build an indexing conveyor belt to transfer medical devices through an assembly and inspection line. Due to the shape and material of the devices, the challenge was to design a conveyor structure that did not offer any friction to the devices. Moreover the devices required fixed positioning for each index due to placement of components with vision analysis.

Conveyor Structure during assembly

The front and rear pulley were custom machined from aluminium whilst the structure was built from 90x45mm aluminium profile.

The Conveyor belt was driven by an Omron Servo Drive for accurate positioning and the pulleys were fastened to the shaft using adjustable keyless couplings. This allowed us to precisely adjust the timing of all four belts as well as provide a safety failure in case that anything gets jammed in the stoppers of the timing belt.

Testing Station for Medical Devices

Our company was asked to build a stand alone test jig for manually testing for leaks in medical containers. The station consisted of two sections, one for pressure testing and another section for vacuum testing.

The station was designed so that once the container is inserted in its location, the operator presses the start button using a two hand button system and the pneumatic actuators move to cover the container and hold it steady under constant pressure while the test is being done.

Vision System Upgrade

A customer requested support on an old OMRON F160 vision system inspecting a translucent diaphragm.

Old Vision System

The device was obsolete and no parts could be found so we upgraded the hardware to the latest OMRON FH vision system. This allowed the customer to increase the number of checks and have a more accurate results since the processing power is higher.

Warehouse Ventilation Fan Panel

Our company was sub-contracted to build a panel for driving 14 ventilation fans each rated 5.5kW at a local manufacturing company warehouse. Each fan was driven by a variable speed drive.

Apart from the variable speed drives, the panel consisted of a programmable controller together with a touch screen HMI for setting of fan speeds and operating schedule. In case of a fire event, the system is hard wired to bypass all control and drive the fans at full speed.

Hotel Chiller Plant Overhaul

Recently we were entrusted to replace the old chiller control system for a local hotel. The hotel was undergoing the replacement of heat pump chillers and required a new system to control pumps and chillers.

Old control system

After analysing the existing system we discussed with the maintenance manager to integrate everything into one cabinet and shift from hardwired control to PLC control. This way it is much easier to monitor and change any parameters remotely.

A stainless steel cabinet was used for the new enclosure, due to the very humid environment. The existing drives were integrated into the new control system whilst adding new drives for the new pumps.
