We were requested to build an indexing conveyor belt to transfer medical devices through an assembly and inspection line. Due to the shape and material of the devices, the challenge was to design a conveyor structure that did not offer any friction to the devices. Moreover the devices required fixed positioning for each index due to placement of components with vision analysis.

The front and rear pulley were custom machined from aluminium whilst the structure was built from 90x45mm aluminium profile.
The Conveyor belt was driven by an Omron Servo Drive for accurate positioning and the pulleys were fastened to the shaft using adjustable keyless couplings. This allowed us to precisely adjust the timing of all four belts as well as provide a safety failure in case that anything gets jammed in the stoppers of the timing belt.
